直接言わずに、何かをほのめかしたりそれとなく伝えること。相手に察してもらう表現方法。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

'hint' より堅い表現で、文章やフォーマルな場で使われます。たいてい 'that' 構文と一緒に出てきます。'intimate'（親密）や 'intimidate'（脅す）とは意味が異なります。
