争いごとや問題で、他人のために双方の間に入って仲裁したり助けたりすること。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

主にフォーマルな場面や深刻な状況で使われる。「intercede with」や「intercede on behalf of」と組み合わせて使われることが多い。他人のために仲裁する際に用いる。
