누군가에게 어떤 생각, 감정, 가치관을 점차적으로 가르쳐 그 사람의 성격이나 사고방식에 자리 잡도록 하는 것.

주로 '가치관', '믿음', '자신감' 등과 함께 쓰인다. '누구에게 무엇을 심어주다'는 형태로 사용하며, ‘설치하다(install)’와 혼동하지 않는다.
