誰かの不正や犯罪行為を警察などの当局に密かに知らせること。多くの場合、裏切りのニュアンスがある。

主に犯罪や法律の文脈で使われ、ネガティブな「裏切り」のニュアンスが強い。「警察」や「当局」と一緒によく用いられる。「inform about」とは異なる。
