무언가나 누군가를 적극적으로 찾아내는 것, 특히 노력을 들인 후. 주로 정보, 물건, 쉽게 찾기 힘든 사람에게 사용됨.

'Hunt up'은 다소 구식이거나 비격식적 표현. 정보, 물건, 예전 친구를 찾을 때 자주 사용('hunt up an old friend'). 공식 문서에서는 드물게 보임. 'Hunt down'(집요하게 추적하다)과 혼동하지 않기.
