「holdups」は、予定通りに進まない予期しない遅れや、武装強盗のことを指します。

非公式表現。「強盗事件」はアメリカ英語でよく、「遅延」の意味は両方で使われます。「holdup」が「遅延」の場合は複数形で使われることが多く、交通や会議に使われます。「hold up」（支える、遅らせる）の動詞とは別です。

There were some holdups on the way to the airport.
