दबाव के बावजूद डटे या टिके रहना, या शारीरिक रूप से कुछ (अक्सर हाथ) बढ़ाना। इसका मतलब कुछ न सौंपना भी हो सकता है।

Usage Notes (Hindi)

'hold out' शारीरिक ('hold out your hand') या रूपक ('hold out against the enemy', 'hold out for more money') रूप में इस्तेमाल हो सकता है। आम बोलचाल में आता है, आमतौर पर डटे रहने या न झुकने के लिए। 'hold up' से न मिलाएँ। 'hope' के साथ अक्सर आता है ('hold out hope')।
