"hit the brakes" in Turkish
Definition
Bir aracı yavaşlatmak veya durdurmak için fren pedalına basmak. Ayrıca bir işi veya ilerlemeyi aniden durdurmak anlamında da kullanılır.
Usage Notes (Turkish)
Günlük konuşmada yaygındır, genellikle araçlar için ama bazen bir iş veya süreçte de kullanılır. 'Suddenly hit the brakes' – aniden durmak demektir. 'Step on the gas' ifadesiyle karıştırmayın, o hızlanmak anlamındadır.
