Definition

'hilt' तलवार, चाकू आदि का वह हिस्सा है जिसे हाथ से पकड़ा जाता है। 'hilts' इसका बहुवचन है, यानी एक से ज्यादा हिल्ट।

'Hilt' शब्द पुराने हथियारों (तलवार, चाकू) के लिए इस्तेमाल होता है, 'hilts' विरले ही आम बातचीत में आता है, ज़्यादातर ऐतिहासिक या विवरणात्मक प्रसंगों में होता है। 'to the hilt' (पूरी तरह) एक आम मुहावरा है। आधुनिक औज़ारों के लिए इस्तेमाल न करें।
