Definition

ハーピーとは、女性と鳥が合体した神話上の生き物です。また、悪意のある女性を侮辱して呼ぶ場合にも使われます。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

神話や物語では普通に使いますが、現代会話で女性に対して使うと大変失礼です。「gossiping harpies」などの表現は侮辱的になります。
