燻蒸（くんじょう）

Definition

燻蒸とは、建物や作物などにいる害虫や有害な生物を煙やガス、薬剤を使って駆除する方法です。

主に害虫の駆除や防除で使われる専門的な言葉です。日常会話ではあまり使いません。「fumigation process」「require fumigation」などの表現がよく使われます。液体を撒く“spraying”とは異なります。

The house needed fumigation after a termite infestation.

家はシロアリが発生したため、**燻蒸**が必要でした。

Fumigation kills harmful insects in stored grains.

**燻蒸**によって保管中の穀物の害虫を駆除できます。
