Definition

実際の権力は持たず、名ばかりの指導者や代表者を指します。また、昔の船の船首に飾られた彫刻像も意味します。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

主に会社や政治などで、本当の力がない人を指す正式な表現です。「figurehead」とは物理的な「頭」には使いません。船首像の意味でも使われますが、日常会話ではあまり一般的ではありません。
