触角探り (比喩)

触角は昆虫やカタツムリなどの頭についている長くて敏感な部分で、周囲を感じ取るために使います。比喩的には、誰かの意見や気持ちを探るための控えめな働きかけも指します。

生物学では「触角」は主に昆虫などに使います。比喩的な “put out feelers” は慎重に意思や意見を探る意味で、複数形で使うことがよくあります。
