Definition

ある人や集団、コミュニティを特徴づける価値観や精神、信念のこと。何を大切にし、どう行動するかを示す。

主に論文や文化・哲学の話題などフォーマルな場面で使われる。'会社のエトス'や'チームのエトス'などの形でよく見かけ、'倫理（ethics）'とは異なる意味。

The school's ethos is based on respect and kindness.
