Intentó con mucho esfuerzo hacer algo, normalmente algo difícil o que vale la pena.

Es formal y literario; se usa más en textos escritos. Suele ir seguido de 'to' y un verbo: 'endeavored to help'. Menos directo o emocional que 'tried', pero enfatiza el esfuerzo serio.
