Definition

徐々に小さくなったり、弱まったり、なくなっていくこと。潮が引く時や気力・感情が薄れる時によく使う。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

文学的・やや格式ばった表現で、海の潮のほかに『ebbing enthusiasm』『ebbing strength』のように感情や気力にも使われる。
