染料染める

Definition

物の色を変えるために使う物質。主に布や髪の毛に使われます。また、その物質で色を付ける行為も指します。

名詞としても動詞としても使います（例：'hair dye', 'dye your shirt'）。意図的な色付けの意味で、偶然の汚れには使いません。「ダイ」（染料）と「ダイ」（死ぬ）は違うので注意。

She used dye to color her hair black.

彼女は髪を黒くするために**染料**を使った。

He will dye his old shirt blue.

彼は古いシャツを青く**染める**つもりだ。

The red dye stained the table.
