바람이 불어가는 방향이나 그 쪽에 위치한 상태. 바람이 오는 방향의 반대쪽.

주로 항해, 비행, 캠핑 등 기술적·야외 상황에서 쓰임. 'downwind of'는 '~의 바람 아래에'라는 의미. 반대말은 'upwind'. 바람이 가는 방향과 오는 방향을 혼동하지 않도록 주의.
