Definition

কেউ দুঃখিত, হতাশ বা হৃদভাঙা অনুভব করছে এবং প্রায়ই মাথা ও চোখ নিচু থাকে—এমন আবেগ ও অঙ্গভঙ্গি বোঝাতে ব্যবহৃত হয়।

Usage Notes (Bengali)

‘Downcast’ সাধারণত মানুষের জন্য ব্যবহৃত হয়, বিশেষ করে ‘downcast eyes’ এর মতো বাক্যে। এটি ‘sad’ থেকে বেশি মার্জিত ও সাহিত্যিক শোনায়। বস্তু বা নির্জীব জিনিসে খুব কমই ব্যবহৃত হয়।
