誰かや何かの価値や功績を認めること。それにふさわしい評価を与えること。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

主に「do (someone) credit」の形で使い、正式または文語的。ほめる価値があること、名誉をもたらすこと。'give credit'（貢献を認める）とは違うので注意。
