食器を洗ったり拭いたりするための小さな布。時には、とても疲れている人や弱々しい人を例える表現として使うこともある。

アメリカ英語では'dishrag'、イギリス英語では'dishcloth'が一般的。人の無気力さや弱さを喩える場合に「使い古しのふきん」のように使う。通常はスポンジではなく布。
