자동차나 배 등에서 편안하고 일정한 속도로 움직이는 것을 의미한다. 무리 없이 쉽게 어떤 일을 해내는 것도 포함한다.

주로 일상적인 표현으로 차량이나 배에 자주 사용된다: 'cruised down the highway', 'cruised the river'. 'cruised through the exam'처럼 수월하게 해냈다는 의미도 있다. 부드럽고 느긋한 움직임을 나타냄.
