누군가에게 어떤 일을 하지 말라고 조언하는 것, 보통 위험하거나 현명하지 않다고 생각할 때 사용합니다.

다소 격식 있고, 주로 공식적·전문적 상황에서 사용합니다. 'prohibit'(금지하다)와는 다름.

The doctor counseled against eating too much sugar.
