كلمة 'condolence' تُستخدم غالباً في المواقف الرسمية، خصوصاً في عبارات مثل 'offer/send my condolences'. تُستخدم بصيغة الجمع 'condolences' غالبًا. نادرًا ما تستعمل في الأحاديث اليومية.
