Definition

誰かを密かに殺す（特に窒息で）、または議論や情報が表に出ないように隠すこと。

非常にまれで文語的な表現。もとは犯罪の手口からきた語で、現代では情報や話題を静かに隠す意味で使われることが多いです。日常会話ではほとんど使いません。

The scandal was burked by the officials.

当局はそのスキャンダルを**揉み消した**。
