感情や言いたいことをこらえるために、わざと自分の唇を歯で噛むこと。

実際に唇を噛む動作や、感情を抑える比喩的な表現で使う。「She bit her lip to...」の場合、感情を飲み込む様子を表す。カジュアル・物語的な場面でよく使う。
