Definition

寝るために横になること。特に普段のベッドではなく、床や屋外など一時的・特別な場所で寝る時に使われる。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

主に口語的。「bed down for the night」のように、人や動物が普段のベッド以外の場所で寝るときに使う。「go to bed」とは異なり、臨時的な寝場所が強調される。
