Declarar alguém inocente de um crime em tribunal; libertar oficialmente uma pessoa de culpa.

Termo formal e jurídico, usual em processos judiciais. O mais comum é usar na voz passiva: 'He was acquitted.' Não se aplica a erros comuns, só a acusações criminais. Não confundir com 'pardon' ou 'forgive'.
