Birinden ya da bir şeyden güvenlik veya sorunlardan uzak durmak için iyi bir mesafe bırakmak. Hem gerçek hem de mecaz anlamda kullanılır.

Genellikle 'give a wide berth' biçiminde ve hem tehlikeli durumlar/hayatlarda hem de istenmeyen kişiler/sahnelerde kullanılır. Gündelik konuşmada sık değildir ama bilinir.
