他の人に聞かれないように、とても小さな声で誰かとある話題について話すこと。時には秘密や噂を共有するため。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

日常会話やカジュアルな場面でよく使われます。秘密やうわさ話、プライベートな話題について使われることが多いです。話題が後に続きます： 'whisper about the news.' 「whisper to」と混同しないように注意。「whisper to」は人に対してささやくことです。
