Definition

誰かや何かが来るのを期待して家の中で待つこと。

主にイギリス英語で使われ、「家で誰かや何かを待つ」という意味です。アメリカ英語では「wait at home」や「stay in」をよく使います。「wait in line」と混同しないようにしましょう。

I will wait in for the plumber this afternoon.

今日の午後は配管工さんを**家で待ちます**。
