Definition

カメの背中にある固い甲羅、またはそれに似た丸みを帯びた形のものを指します。建物や屋根などのデザインにも使われます。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

生物関連や建築デザインで使われることが多く、カメの甲羅のようなアーチ状やドーム状の形にも使われます。日常会話ではあまり使われません。
