Definition

タンブルウィードは根から離れて風に転がされる乾燥した植物で、砂漠や西部劇でよく見られます。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

実際の植物だけでなく、静けさや何も起きていない様子の比喩表現としても使われます。「西部劇」や北米の砂漠地帯に関連して登場し、日常会話ではあまり使いません。
