Definition

トラップドアとは、床や天井などに仕掛けられた隠し戸で、ひそかに出入りできる仕組みです。驚きや秘密の場所に使われます。

劇場の仕掛けや物語の秘密通路で使われることが多く、通常のドアより小さい。'hidden trapdoor', 'trapdoorを開ける' などの表現によく出てきます。日常生活では珍しい言葉です。
