Expressão informal, usada para tarefas difíceis, trajetos complicados ou períodos desafiadores. Comum após 'it's' ou 'was' ('It was tough going'). Não se aplica a pessoas. Parecido com 'hard', mas destaca dificuldade com avanço lento.
