常識や状況を無視して、必要以上に大胆な行動や発言をすること。多くの場合、無謀だったり礼儀を欠くと受け取られます。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

やや堅い表現で、否定的なニュアンスを伴います。 "have the temerity to～"や"show temerity"の形で使われ、その大胆さを驚きや批判的に捉える時に使われます。単なる"boldness"や"courage"とは区別されます。
