特に服や布などが破れて古く、傷んだ状態を表します。さらに使い古された本や旗などにも使われます。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

物や衣類など物理的なものに使い、人には使いません。'shabby'よりも、破れや傷みが強調されます。「tattered clothes」「tattered flag」などの表現でよく使われます。
