言葉をそのまま信じる

Definition

相手の言葉だけを信じて、裏付けや証拠なしで受け入れること。

ややかたい表現で、信頼を表す時や慎重な会話・文章で使う。'take something literally'（額面どおり受け取る）とは別の意味。

You can take me at my word; I promise I'll help you.

**私の言葉を信じて**いいよ。必ず手伝うから。

She said it was safe, so I took her at her word.
