Escapar ou fugir de repente, principalmente da polícia ou de problemas. É uma expressão informal e um pouco antiquada.

Muito informal e antiquado, geralmente ouvindo-se em histórias policiais antigas. Usado para criminosos ou quem foge da lei. A expressão 'on the lam' também aparece. Quase não se usa no cotidiano atual.
