"take back" in Japanese

取り戻す返す撤回する

Definition

物を元の持ち主や場所に返すこと、または自分の発言や行動が間違っていたと認めてそれを撤回すること。

「品物を返す」場合は「返す」や「取り戻す」、「言葉を撤回する」場合は「撤回する」と使い分ける。「take back my words」は「自分の発言を撤回する」という意味。

Please take back this book to the library.

この本を図書館に**返して**ください。

I want to take back my broken phone to the store.

壊れた携帯電話をお店に**返したい**です。

He didn't mean it and wants to take back what he said.
