'take a stand' প্রায়ই তখন ব্যবহৃত হয় যখন কেউ তর্ক বা বিতর্কে নিজের অবস্থান দৃঢ়ভাবে প্রকাশ করেন। 'take a stand on/against/for' -এর মতো গঠনগুলো প্রচলিত।
