어떤 것이 점차 작아지거나 조용해지거나 약해져서 결국 완전히 사라지는 것.

비공식적으로 목소리, 수치, 열기 등이 천천히 줄어들 때 사용. 동물의 '꼬리'와는 관련 없음. 'his voice tailed off'처럼 자주 씀.
