Move-se rapidamente pelo ar para baixo, geralmente para capturar algo ou atacar. Costuma descrever aves ou aviões fazendo um movimento rápido e repentino para baixo.

Usa-se frequentemente para aves ('the eagle swoops'), aviões ou pessoas em descrições figurativas. Normalmente não indica movimentos lentos ou suaves. Pode aparecer em frases como 'swoops down' ou 'swoops in'. 'Swoops' é usado para ele/ela no presente.
