यह शाब्दिक (पानी, हवा द्वारा बह जाना) और रूपक अर्थ (भावनाओं या घटनाओं की लहर में बह जाना) दोनों में इस्तेमाल होता है। अक्सर 'be swept along by...' के रूप में passive voice में दिखता है।
