誓う

Definition

「誓う」とは、あることが本当だ、または必ずやると強く約束することです。

カジュアルな場面で使われ、'神に誓って'（I swear to God）などでよく使われます。正式な結婚の誓いなどには用いません。悪口の'swear'とは違います。

I swear to tell the truth.

私は真実を話すと**誓います**。

He swears to finish his work on time.

彼は仕事を時間通り終えると**誓っています**。

She swears to keep my secret.

彼女は私の秘密を守ると**誓っています**。

I swear to you, I didn't eat your cake.

**誓って言うけど**、君のケーキは食べてないよ。
