ひもやロープで何かや誰かを吊るすこと。罰として首を吊るすという意味でも使われます。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

'String up' はカジュアルな表現で、物を吊るす時や歴史的に処罰として人を吊るす意味があります。後者は強い意味があるので注意して使ってください。'string along' とは異なります。
