أن تتوقف فجأة عن الحركة أو القيام بشيء ما، غالبًا بسبب المفاجأة أو الخوف أو الخطر.

تعبير غير رسمي وقوي؛ أقوى من 'يتوقف فجأة'. شائع في السرد القصصي مع 'in your tracks': 'stop dead in your tracks'. يستخدم لإضفاء تأثير درامي.
