어떤 일이 완전히 멈춰서 더 이상 진행이나 변화가 없는 상태를 의미합니다.

주로 명사로 사용되며 'at a standstill'(정체 상태에서)의 표현으로 자주 나옵니다. 교통, 협상, 계획 등에 쓰입니다. 동사로는 거의 쓰이지 않아요.

The traffic came to a standstill because of the accident.

사고 때문에 교통이 완전히 **정체**되었다.

The negotiations are at a standstill right now.

현재 협상이 **정체** 상태다.
