أن تضع قدميك فوق شيء وتقف عليه؛ وتستخدم مجازياً للدلالة على الاعتماد في الآراء أو الأفعال على أساس أو مبدأ ما.

Usage Notes (Arabic)

"stand on" قد تكون حرفية (الوقوف فعليًا) أو مجازية (مثل "stand on principles"). لا تخلط بينها وبين "stand up" (ينهض) أو "stand for" (يمثل). من العبارات الشائعة: "stand on ceremony".
