사람이나 동물이 팔, 다리를 아무렇게나 뻗은 채로 누워 있거나, 어떤 것이 넓은 범위에 흩어져 있는 상태를 뜻함.

보통 사람이 피곤하거나 아무렇게나 누워 있는 상태(예: 'sprawled on the couch'), 또는 도시 등이 넓게 퍼져 있는 모습에 사용. 바른 자세엔 쓰지 않음.
